If you are looking for a place to settle down and raise a family in a safe, smaller, midwest town while enjoying work in a thriving, growing practice with state of the art equipment and no big city competition, contact me. It's good to be a big fish in a little pond and make an excellent living! Especially if you dream of owning your own practice someday.
We are living the dream here in Dumas, TX and having fun and I would like to share that with another OD if you are a good fit with our office vision, culture and values.
Salary would be a guaranteed $150,000 base plus 15% of your collections over that, so the sky is the limit since you would have a full schedule even starting out. Paid medical and disability insurance, 401k matching retirement, Paid CE and AOA/TOA fees, Malpractice insurance, moving stipend, all the good stuff! Plus up to $150,000 for student loan repayment as well as a bonus toward a down payment on a house also.
I started cold in my hometown in 1990 and grew the practice over the years by myself. Now we have a new, 4,900 sq. ft. stand alone building with 4 lanes all equipped with Marco TRS autophoropters, Marco OPD, Optovue Ivue OCT, Optos Daytona, Icare tonometers, Neurolens screener, Humphrey 540 Visual Field unit and Konan Specular microscope. We are 50/50 medical care and refractive. I personally would like to have more time off and work a little less ideally while still seeing patients. Since I am not ready to retire for some time, this could be a great opportunity to buy into a practice slowly to make it more affordable as well as to minimize taxes and have a mentor. There is so much potential to grow the practice in a niche area like myopia management and more medical treatment like dry eye. I'm praying for that right person to hand over the practice to someday that makes it a win/win for both of us.
Dumas is about 50 miles north of Amarillo, TX, on the Texas High Plains, midway from DFW to Denver, about 6 hours easy drive or a quick flight either way. We have a diverse economy with oil/gas refineries in the county as well as plenty of farming/ranching. We have a JBS beef plant and many dairies. We do not see economic downturns as other places do and our cost of living is low! Lake Meredith is 20 miles away for boating and water skiing, with great Crappie, Smallmouth and Sand Bass and Walleye fishing. The mountains are 4 hours away if you like fishing, hiking and camping. Amarillo is 45 minutes away for more shopping and entertainment, with a good airport for trips out of town. We go and play when we want easily and then come back home where we feel safe and not much traffic to deal with. Dumas has great schools, several of which are brand new with awesome sports programs. We also have very little crime. This is Friday Night Lights football games country with homecoming bonfires, 4th of July fireworks and parades, sweet corn on the town square picnics, rodeos, Little League baseball or soccer games. Americana at it's best. Everyone knows you and your family at the grocery store and church.
If you speak Spanish, this is especially a great opportunity as well, since our demographics are about 60% Hispanic and 40% Anglo. You could be a rock star OD!
If you are looking to get out of the rat race of the big city and too much competition, this could be your home where you could have a great and easy life. Contact me if you are interested in learning more.
