Telehealth Optometrist -Acuity Eye Group
Acuity Eye Group is the largest physician owned, privately managed ( no private equity) Eye Group in the U.S. Based in Southern California Acuity Eye Group has 50 locations with 40 Optometrists and 40 Ophthalmologists representing the subspecialties of Cornea, Glaucoma, Retina, Oculoplastics and Pediatrics. Patients can find a variety of services within a single clinic, ensuring the best use of their time and a comprehensive approach to care.
Telehealth Optometrist will practice full scope optometry including interpreting imaging, managing ocular disease, as well as prescribing glasses, contact lenses, and medications from a remote location. They will have access to electronic health records with remote access. Ensures that the primary goal of efficiently providing vision care services that exceed customer expectations is achieved, while improving clinical and financial operations. Essential functions include:
Access and update electronic health records via remote access.
Provide a comprehensive clinical review of each patient and is on-site and available during the exam with the patient for additional support.
Perform comprehensive eye and vision tests.
Diagnose defects of the eye, such as myopia, astigmatism, and glaucoma.
Provide personalized temporary and permanent solutions to sight issues based on each patient’s specific case and medical history.
Prescribe medications, eyeglasses and contact lenses.
Advise patients on proper eye care techniques.
Promote eye and general health by evaluating and counseling patients.
Keep updated and accurate medical records for all patients.
Book next appointments in cases where re-examination is required.
Train patients on how to use and maintain their contact lenses.
Refer eye doctors and ophthalmologists when patients need to undergo a surgery or in cases of severe eye injuries.
Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy. ? Maintain an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Company policies. Maintain strict compliance with State, Federal and other regulations (e.g., OSHA, WC, HIPAA, ADA, FEHA, DOL, HR policies and practices).
? Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree and active California license in good standing. ? Minimum 2 years’ work experience.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to explain medical terms simply and calmly.
Applied understanding of principles of optometry and best practices for the diagnosis and treatment of eye-related disorders and conditions.
Strong leadership skills and ability to coach, teach, and inspire.
Hands-on experience with eye examination tools, such as ophthalmoscope and tonometer.
Knowledge and experience with EMRs
Computer proficiency including knowledge of Word, Excel and use of standard office equipment
Ability to draw valid conclusions, apply sound judgment in making decisions, and to make decisions under pressure.
Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask effectively with limited direction, while understanding and contributing to the success of the Company.
Detail oriented, organized, process focused, problem solver, self-motivated, proactive, customer service focused.
Ability to address others professionally and respectfully by actions, words and deeds.
This is primarily a medical office classification and may require frequent visits and driving to medical offices in the designated region, which requires the ability to drive an automobile.
