Mattax Neu Prater Eye Center has been meeting specialized eye care needs for over 20 years.  One of the many services available to our patients and members of our community is an on-site optical shop.  Our Springfield location needs a part-time Optician.  This individual should be highly motivated, outgoing, and pleasant, with excellent customer service skills. Previous optical experience is a plus, however, is not required when applying, as training will be provided. 

Job Duties Include:

• Assist patients with frame and lens selection for RX
• Place eyewear orders, promote lens options and multiple pairs
• Calculate order totals and patient amounts due after Medicare with accuracy
• Dispense eyewear and educate patients on lens care
• Adjustments and trouble shooting
• Create and maintain attractive displays
• General dispensary upkeep; dust, restock accessories, fill frame boards 
• Lab duties include lens edging, tinting, lensometry, inspections, lab clean-up and shut-down
• Maintain lab supply levels and reorder as needed 
• Travel to satellite locations to provide staffing coverage as needed
• Experience working in an optical industry
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Attention to detail and accuracy, particularly for interpreting prescriptions and checking lenses
• Great organizational, time management and prioritization skills
• Ability to use Microsoft Office program or other software as required
• Ability to use Optical equipment
• High School Diploma or GED required
