In 2020, Carolina Ophthalmology celebrated 40 years of service to the people of Western North Carolina. We have grown to nine physicians with approximately 80 employees and four locations in Western North Carolina including offices in Hendersonville, Asheville, Skyland, and Columbus. We also maintain satellite locations in Franklin and Spruce Pine, North Carolina. In addition to comprehensive ophthalmology, our practice covers the specialties of cornea, cataracts, glaucoma, retina, and oculoplastics. We operate at several local hospitals and are currently engaged in the development of a new, joint-venture ASC. Call is shared equally among the doctors. We enjoy an excellent reputation in the community and have a large, established referral base.
Consistently voted as one of the “Top Ten Best Places to Live”, our desirable area offers an exceptional quality of life including cultural events and an active community promoting the arts, music, and local trades. Columbus is recognized internationally because of the Tryon International Equestrian Center, a venue that hosts horse jumping, polo, steeplechase and other various equestrian events that brings competition from all over the
...world. The entire Asheville and Hendersonville area is well known for our unique blend of diverse restaurants and local breweries, many that have enjoyed national prominence. There are abundant outdoor and recreational opportunities. Whether you’re seeking a challenging day of mountain biking, night skiing on one of our nearby slopes, a kayaking trip down the French Broad River, horseback riding on quiet mountain trails, or simply a relaxing hike to one of our many waterfalls, there is something for everyone. We boast excellent public and private schools, abundant religious options, and an enjoyable year round climate with four distinct seasons. Travel is convenient with three airports choices including the Asheville airport, Greenville-Spartanburg airport located very close to the Columbus office, and the Charlotte airport at only a little over an hour drive. But no matter where you travel, it is always comforting when you see those layers of Blue Ridge Mountains that welcome you back home!
